Foreheads Need Some TLC
There is no relationship between age and frown lines and wrinkles on the forehead, but the forehead can understandably be a concern to many people as they get older. Feedback from our clients has confirmed they don’t spend enough time hydrating their foreheads appropriately. This leads to the formation of lines and wrinkles which can cause us to become very self-conscious.
The Science Behind Frown Lines And Wrinkles
The cheeks have a rich blood supply where the skin cells receive an optimal supply of oxygen and nutrients. In comparison, the forehead area has less tissue and a concentrated amount of blood flow; this is primarily because the skull bone is directly behind the forehead.
This means the forehead skin cells will naturally produce less collagen and elastin; as we age this diminishes even further. The influence of an individual’s personality, emotional state and their environment also dictate the muscular habits and formation of lines and wrinkles.
When caring for our foreheads we need to remember that due to the reduction in nutrients, we need to spend more time hydrating this area more than other parts of the face.
Can We Get Rid Of Them?
Yes! The following regime should be done twice a day. It’s important to remember to be patient with this regime as it will take time to see results. Progress will depend on the severity of the lines created and how long they have been there.
Step 1 You can consciously change your muscular habits with effort to relax the tension on your forehead when it becomes visible.
Step 2 Ask someone you trust to let you know when you are frowning so that you become aware of the ‘triggers’ (see our blog on stress).
Step 3 Train your muscles to relax by breathing deeply until you see a reduction in frown lines.
Step 4 When you wash your face – in the morning and at night-time – leave some moisture on your forehead then massage it in small circular motions with a good skin oil. We recommend you use Clear Medical’s Tone and Defence Skin Oil.
When caring for our foreheads we need to remember that due to the reduction in nutrients, we need to spend more time hydrating this area.
Is There A Quicker Way?
There are numerous treatments available on the market which can improve the skin condition to the extent that you require. Some promise miracles and do nothing, whilst others are more successful.
We recommend Skin Rejuvenation on the forehead to be the best treatment. This involves using pure white light to stimulate the collagen and elastin production directly. There is no downtime after the treatment and can be done as and when required. After consultation, the treatment will be performed every 4 weeks at Clear Medical Skin, Hair & Body Clinic in Chorlton, Manchester.
Whether you try our regime or opt for a professional treatment we hope you achieve the stress free and fabulous forehead you deserve!
