Plasma Xanthelasma Treatment

Our plasma xanthelasma treatment effectively removes those yellowish-brown deposits around the eye area. We like the accuracy, non-invasive, non-surgical, and precise nature of the plasma xanthelasma treatment compared to methods such as cryotherapy and surgical removal. Plasma xanthelasma treatment uses nitrogen from the air and a specialised device that passes the gas through a magnetic field, creating a thermal discharge directed by a needle tip onto the skin to injure the target tissue. Plasma xanthelasma treatment then repairs the skin, so you no longer see or feel the blemishes.

What are xanthelasma?

Xanthelasma are plaques of lipids that deposit symmetrically around the eye area. They are harmless skin lesions, and their removal is classed as cosmetic. However, their occurrence may be the manifestation of disorders of fat metabolism (hyperlipidaemia) or abnormal blood fats (dyslipidemia). Some people have completely healthy levels of fat and can still get these deposits around the eyes.

What does plasma xanthelasma treatment involve?

We advise that clients wanting a plasma xanthelasma treatment attend a face-to-face consultation. On arrival at the clinic, we outline the procedure, the results, and what to expect during and after treatment. If you are happy to proceed with a patch test, it will be carried out on the day.

The treatment feels like a sting and can be uncomfortable for some; everyone’s tolerance varies. The lipid and solid skin cells of the xanthelasma are turned into gas. The procedure typically lasts 3-5 minutes for average xanthelasma treatments. A biological dressing forms over the skin where the plasma arc has been discharged. The skin area may become pink and swollen after the patch test (this can take a few hours, a couple of days, or more to return to normal). The heat from the plasma will cause contraction of the skin tissue so that healthy skin is visible after healing.

The biological dressing will remain on the skin surface for 5-14 days. For the first 48 hours, it is best to keep the skin area dry; many clients keep it dry until the skin has fully healed. Aftercare is crucial to ensure that your skin heals without the risk of scarring.

How much does plasma xanthelasma treatment cost, and how many treatments will I need?

A face-to-face consultation is £70, and you will be quoted accurately at the time of your consultation, depending on the area covered. Please feel free to whatsapp an image of your skin to 07527 296 919 with your name if you would like an estimate prior to booking.

Treatments can vary from person to person. Commonly, a single session can suffice, though this cannot be guaranteed, as certain skin types are treated with caution.
