Skin Infections
Our skin is a protective barrier from disease-causing agents (pathogens) that we are exposed to on a daily basis. Sometimes, when the skin becomes weak or too sensitive it may become infected. The infection results in a natural ‘in built’ mechanism to come into effect in order to heal the contamination. This mechanism or, in other words, the immune system response is different depending on the cause of the infection or the area it occurs in. At Clear Medical we offer the best treatment and advice to help eliminate the infection and return your skin to its natural radiance.
What Are Skin Infections?
Skin infections may result from bacteria, viruses, fungus, or parasites. What we observe on the skin is the effect of the immune system’s attempt at curing the infection. Usually, our immune system cures infections on its own but there are times when the infections require medical assistance as they don’t heal quick enough. This is seen in cases where clients have skin warts that do not seem to heal. Moreover, to increase the healing process, it is also very beneficial to supplement the immune system and natural cell renewal with lots of water, healthy food, and exercise.
Bacterial Skin Infection
Normally, the skin has a specific kind of harmless bacteria (termed Bacterial Flora) present in it. The most common are the various kinds of ‘gram-positive’ bacteria such as Staphylococcus Epidermis. Skin infections are usually caused by Staphylococcus Aureus and Streptococcus Pyogenes. Some examples of these are cellulitis, impetigo, folliculitis, and ecthyma. They are usually present on the skin with varying degrees of appearance depending on their severity, ethnicity, and general skin health.
Viral Skin Infections – Warts
Viral skin infections usually manifest as skin lesions and, although they do not cover a large area they may appear in numerous small patches. Skin lesions are signs of many viral diseases and due to their particular appearance, they are characteristic of this specific illness. Shingles, warts (human papillomavirus –HPV), and herpes simplex (cold sores) are common types of viral skin infections.
Fungal Skin Infections
Athletes’ foot and yeast infections are common fungal infections. The athlete’s foot constitutes of itchy, cracked and flaky skin around the toes alongside a burning sensation due to the fungal attack. High levels of candida cause yeast infections; most commonly observed in women as thrush.
Parasitic Skin Infections
A few examples of parasitic skin infections are body lice, hair lice, and scabies. Body lice may occur over the body or over pubic areas. They usually occur from direct contact, which produces rashes and itching. Head lice, on the other hand, are parasitic wingless insects that live from the blood in the head. These lice are most active in the dark. Microscopic mites cause Scabies, which is an itchy skin condition that spreads quickly from person to person through contact.
What to Avoid
Topical steroids may seem like the perfect way of treating these infections, but they cause thinning of the skin and addiction over time. Antibiotic creams may work at first, but only temporarily as bacteria mutates and becomes tolerant. Also, creams and lotions contain chemical toxins which penetrate into the skin and cause disease. - Our Tone & Defence Formula 100% Natural Skin oil: is available in the clinic and from our online shop. Aids your immune system response and enhances your skin barrier
- We advise that you supplement any skincare regime with a healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
If you opt for treatment, intervals can vary depending on various factors; these include the treatment area and the severity of the skin infection. The number of treatments needed can also vary depending on individual circumstances. These can include; ethnicity, immune system response, stress levels, internal and external biological environments and the time between treatments can also vary. We will keep you fully informed throughout the treatment process. We will discuss with you our expectations on how long the treatment may be necessary.
For example, clients having concerns with warts may need several treatments at 4-week intervals. This will cause a reduction or complete eradication dependant on the severity.
